FYSA Cohort at the Aer Lingus Classic

First-Year Semester Aboard (FYSA), a collaborative program between the Office of International Education (OIE) and the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) recently announced recognitions and expanded roles for FYSA staff and leadership. Led by Dr. Vicki Birchfield, FYSA executive director, these individuals are an integral part of the FYSA program and have directly contributed to its success.

In addition to her outstanding management and operational skills organizing FYSA 2024, Liz Reese, FYSA Program and Operations Manager, has been nominated for the GT 1000 Instructor of the year award. A recent tribute video, documented by the FYSA@Oxford 2024 cohort, featured students expressing their gratitude and thanks to Liz for leading them through the program.

FYSA@Oxford Faculty Director, Shannon Dobranski was recently promoted to Deputy Director of Academic Success and Advising.  In this capacity, Shannon works closely with Executive Director Lorett Swank on all aspects of ASA’s operations and programs.

Amy Henry, who serves as a FYSA Executive Advisor, was promoted to Associate Vice Provost for International Academic Programs and Partnerships. 

 
Carole Moore

Carole Moore, who helped establish FYSA@Oxford in 2022, and who continues to teach FYSA students each fall, was selected as one of the 70 inaugural honorees to be included in the Pathway of Progress: Celebrating Georgia Tech Women art installation. Expected to be completed on campus in March 2025, the installation celebrates pioneering women at Georgia Tech.
